High school students attending the ATCG Forensic summer camp will receive extensive hands-on exposure to the techniques used in forensic analysis of biological materials.
The students will learn to extract DNA, create DNA fingerprints, produce DNA sequences, and identify hair using electron and light microscopy.
The 5 day residential camp is comprised of classroom activities in the morning followed by hands-on experience in the labs during
the afternoon. With only 20 students per session and three instructors, students will have significant amounts of one-on-one interactions with the instructors.
The last two days of camp are devoted to collection of evidence from a mock crime scene, analysis of the evidence and a mock trial.
